Prioritizing Peace
Today I was privileged to talk with Tim Engberg who lives here on Maui. In our conversation, Tim offers two Wellness Tools to quiet your mind chatter: how to prioritize peace and how to work with the idea of acceptance. Though as humans we can’t eliminate pain and distress, Tim shares how to manage your thinking and invite in calm.
In this episode, Tim describes a spiritual practice of morning meditation followed by asking yourself, How am I framing my day? Through journaling you can discover the words you are using to interpret your life situations. If you label your boss as a monster and meetings with her as a disaster, you are locking yourself into a box of negativity with no way out. Listen in as Tim suggests simple ways to reframe the day ahead, creating space for joyous possibilities.
Tim started his career in the medical field as a cardiovascular staff nurse and, in recent years, provided executive leadership for Stanford Health Care for twenty-two clinics. Before medicine, he spent eight years with the U. S. Forest service in his home state of Montana, fighting fires and maintaining trails. Seven years ago, a medical emergency changed the course of his life and helped him to see the importance of connecting with others. Tim’s motto? Pray for courage. Look for grace.
I love you, Lucky
